As a technology marketer at McBru in Portland, I use LinkedIn groups quite a bit and have found them to be very useful in building community, starting dialogues with key influencers, and recruiting participation in marketing programs. One of the neat things about LinkedIn is that you can read the members’ bios and get a feel for their background and experience with a particular topic. This information helps determine whether I send 1:1 messages to these folks or start general discussions about certain topics.
